Morgan "Miss Moo" 2001- 2014

Our sweet Miss Moo passed away on Friday, March 21. Miss Moo became sick and her existing kidney issues just couldn't handle the illness. She was around 13 years old.

We found Miss Moo in a pile of leaves behind the garage of our first house. She was so tiny, she fit in the palm of my husband's hand. She had the strangest, cutest, tiniest "moo." Even her purr was tiny. For the first few years, we didn't even think she could purr. Then one day I was reading a book in bed and she curled up on my pillow with her head next to my ear and I could hear this tiny motor. Her antics were endless.

We began work on Book 2 last year. I was hoping to finish it this year. Her illness was so sudden and we are all in shock and very sad. She was a wonderful creature who touched many humans with her silliness and her sweetness. She had so many funny stories and I hope to continue telling them. Love you little Moo!

Bay Point Elementary (St. Petersburg, Florida) reads Morning, Miss Moo in class

Miss Moo received a pleasant surprise in the mail last week. She received 10 wonderful letters from students in Ms. Bridges' first grade class from Bay Point Elementary in St. Petersburg, FL. The letters were all about my favorite subject, ME! Ms. Bridges read Morning, Miss Moo to the class and then the students wrote letters to the Blonde telling her how much they liked it. Miss Moo would like to thank the students for their kind words with many purrs and tail swishes. Keep reading and writing!

"Bay Point Elementary opened in 1962 in south St. Petersburg, moving into its current home in 2000. The math, science, technology and Spanish language magnet program was initiated in the 1993-1994 school year to facilitate integration as required by the Federal desegregation mandate. It is a District-wide magnet school and students are admitted through lottery. The curriculum is aligned with the magnet programs of adjacent Bay Point Middle School and Lakewood High School's Center for Advanced Technologies (CAT) program."

Here are just a few of the letters Miss Moo received:

Miss Moo's Guide to Happiness, Rule #10

10) Be content with what you have

It's not how big your home is or what kind of litter is in your litter box, as long as you have friends and family, life is pretty good. I have delicious food in my bowl, a bottomless water dish and a soft blanket in the sunshine to curl up on. I don't need anything else. Well, a few plush toys would be nice, and a cup a milk on occasion, maybe a water gun to spray the dogs with (just for fun of course), and I wouldn't mind some chunks of tuna or ham accidently dropped on the floor every now and then...Yeah, that should do it.

Miss Moo's Guide to Happiness, Rule #9

9) Be helpful

It's nice to help others. Makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside. Maybe that's because I'm warm and fuzzy on the outside. Mom always needs help waking up in the morning. I'm glad to oblige.

Miss Moo's Guide to Happiness, Rule #5

5) Life is messy.

Keeping clean is just too much work so don't worry about it. Go ahead and make a mess! Besides, cleaning up gives your mom something to do. And if she tries to give you a bath, hide behind the couch.

Miss Moo now in Boulder at the Boulder Book Store

Miss Moo's Guide to Happiness, Rule #4

4) Stretch every morning.

Every morning should start with a good stretch of all your muscles. It makes a body light and limber after a night of rest and prepares you for the day. Then, after breakfast, you can go back to sleep feeling refreshed.

Miss Moo's Guide to Happiness, Rule #3

3)  Always question authority.

It never hurts to ask for what you want, just remember to be polite. And if they say no, ask again. And again and again and again. You'll wear them down eventually.

Miss Moo's Guide to Happiness, Rule #2

2)  Eat every meal as if it's your last.

Food tastes good so you might as well enjoy eating it. A full tummy is a happy tummy.

Miss Moo's Guide to Happiness, Rule #1

1) Take a nap at every opportunity

Life is tough. Be sure to get enough rest. Besides, you never know when you'll have to run away from something much larger than you. Be ready, be rested.
